Find the Right Entry to Accelerate AI Landing -- Hard-Headed Thinking of “ChatGPT Popularity”

source:Science and Technology Daily time:2023-02-15

The coverage of knowledge is quite extensive and the answer to questions is no longer mechanical. It is a “generalist” who can write copywriting, code, and make tables... ChatGPT, a chat robot, has not lost its popularity in recent days. It has shown amazing potential in replacing artificial intelligence and others, and has also triggered a new round of thinking about the application of artificial intelligence.

With the theme of accelerating the application of AI, liberating productivity and solving the problem of talent shortage, the living room of the CPPCC Committee of Zhejiang Province invited representatives of the government and enterprises to hold a seminar at the Zhijiang Laboratory. Bao Hujun, executive director of China Computer Society and deputy director of Zhijiang Laboratory, analyzed that AI applications like ChatGPT have greatly improved human-computer interaction capabilities and are expected to become infrastructure similar to Internet platforms, thus improving productivity.

ChatGPT launched by the American AI research company OpenAI was only realized in a few months from the official launch to the monthly active users of more than 100 million. How did it come out of the market? Excellent technical innovation, project realization ability and investor courage are indispensable.

In Bao Hujun’s view, the completion of development of the model is not the end of an AI technology. It is need to find a convenient use mode to solve practical problems for more people.

The interdisciplinary integration has promoted rapid development of artificial intelligence. New theories, new technologies and new applications are emerging endlessly. However, whether the industry can bring changes still needs to be tested by the market. The selected scenario entry point is particularly critical.

Li Yongwei, chief engineer of Economy and Information Technology Department of  Zhejiang Province, said that accelerating the implementation and application of AI technology and improving the competitiveness of real economy is what Zhejiang needs to promote in the next few years with the needs of manufacturing industry transformation and the labor shortage that may be caused by social aging.

In January this year, 17 departments including Ministry of Industry and Information Technology jointly issued “Robot+” Application Action Implementation Plan, which proposed to promote the integration of 5G, artificial intelligence, intelligent voice, machine vision and other technologies with robot technology.

“AI robots are needed to replace manual operation and patrol especially in the harsh environment.” Chen Rushen, chairman of Hangzhou Shenhao Technology Co., Ltd., said for example, in extremely cold weather, the transmission line in the air needs to be de-iced, which is very dangerous if you are careless. In view of this industry pain point, the company has developed and applied a deicing robot.

Industry experts believe that innovation and entrepreneurship in the field of artificial intelligence only rely on training of neural network and open source code, lack of sufficient commercialized thinking, lack of technical threshold, and lack of strategic determination can only be a temporary heat. When the tide recedes, “naked swimmers” have nowhere to hide.
